Please join Emily Switzer (YC '17, YSM '19), Sarah Switzer (YC '19) and their colleagues in the Isles Ensemble for their first concert of the season, "Music at the Movies." Experience an afternoon of cinematic chamber music, including works by compositional giants of the silver screen (as well as a few surprises along the way!). Guest artist Maria Jette narrates the delightfully autumnal tale of “The Open Window,” accompanied by music of Beethoven, Haydn, Bartók, and more. Minnesota Orchestra violinist Sarah Grimes joins the group for the second half of the concert, musically anchored by Korngold's exquisite String Quartet No. 2, which features the lush textures and beautiful melodies that characterize his evocative film scores of the 1930s and 40s.
The concert is 2 pm on Sunday, November 2nd, at the beautiful Lake of the Isles Lutheran Church (2020 West Lake of the Isles Parkway, Minneapolis). Tickets are $25, or pay-as-you-can; students and children admitted free. Advance tickets can be purchased below; more information is available on the Isles Ensemble website.

The Yale Alumni Association of the Northwest invites you to talk and presentation by Alicia Schmidt Camacho, Professor of Ethnicity, Race, and Migration at Yale University, sponsored by Yale’s Redpath Speaker Series.
Professor Camacho holds affiliations with the Yale Center for the Study of Race, Indigeneity, and Transnational Migration, and the American Studies and Women’s Gender, and Sexuality Programs. Her scholarship examines migration, social movements, and cultural politics in North America, including studying transnational labor organizing, gender violence and feminicide in Mexico, border governance, and migrant expressive culture. Professor Camacho served as Head of Ezra Stiles College from 2020 to 2025.

The Yale Alumni Association of the Norwest invites you to the Minnapolis Institute of Art to Break bread with an art ‘Giant’ Meleko Mokgosi on June 1 at 10 AM
Grammy-winning superstar Alicia Keys and her husband, Swizz Beatz, have made the Minneapolis Institute of Art only the third stop for “Giants", a groundbreaking exhibit drawn from their world-class art collection. While the exhibit boasts large canvasses from global Black artists such as Kehinde Wiley and Amy Sherald, there is a whole room of 30-plus art pieces from Botswanan painter and Yale University art professor Meleko Mokgosi.
Please join the Yale Alumni Association of the Northwest as we welcome Prof. Mokgosi as a Redpath speaker for a breakfast in Mia and a tour of “Giants.” 10 a.m. June 1, Mia.

James H. Stock is Vice Provost for Climate and Sustainability, Harvard University; Director of the Salata Institute for Climate and Sustainability, Harvard University; the Harold Hitchings Burbank Professor of Political Economy, Faculty of Arts and Sciences; and a member of the faculty at the Harvard Kennedy School. His current research includes energy and environmental economics with a focus on fuels and on U.S. climate change policy. He is co-author, with Mark Watson, of a leading undergraduate econometrics textbook. In 2013-2014 he served as Member of President Obama’s Council of Economic Advisers, where his portfolio included macroeconomics and energy and environmental policy. He was Chair of the Harvard Economics Department from 2007-2009. He holds a M.S. in statistics and a Ph.D. in economics from the University of California, Berkeley where Janet Yellen was his advisor.
